Walker Metalsmiths Celtic Jewelry store and gallery in Andover will host an exhibition and reception for visiting Irish artist Jeff Fitzpatrick Wednesday May 19 Noon - 8 PM.  Fitzpatrick is a highly individualistic, self taught artist and designer. His sources and inspiration are guided by the ancestry of traditional Celtic art from its earliest beginnings in the Boyne Valley to the great illuminated manuscripts and ancient legends.

Jeff sees his work as a continuation of that tradition, hidden within the world of the mystical and spiritual subconscious. His extraordinary paintings with their commanding beauty, richness and symbolism, overflow with the baffling intricacy of fearless designs. Jeff has worked at his art for the past fifteen years. In recently he has split his time between his sea side studio in County Donegal and County Meath where he has assisted in design work for woodcarver Clive O’Gibney. His work is collected privately and has been purchased by many monasteries throughout Ireland and Europe for its meditational qualities. A notable purchase was made by the Dali Lama.

Jeff feels that the keen interest of many Irish-Americans for their cultural roots makes them at least as appreciative of Celtic art as the Irish in Ireland. Stephen and Susan Walker, the owners of Walker Metalsmiths met Jeff in Dublin while seeking artists and craftsmen to exhibit along side their own Celtic jewelry at their shop in Andover. The artist plans to take his work to Boston and Chicago while in the US.
