Recreation:
Although the Village of Andover is small, the opportunities for recreation often surpass those found in larger communities. The school campus and gym are scenes of adult league baseball, softball (for both men and women), slow-pitch softball, soccer, and basketball games-well supported by spectators. | ![]() |
Activities for younger children include Little League, Senior
Little League, Cinderella League and summer playground. Winter brings snowmobiling and cross-country skiing to the back-door of many residents, while superior downhill skiing, with lifts and snow-making facilities, can be enjoyed minutes away. The several streams in and near Andover provide excellent fishing. Andover Pond, a four acre body of water, partially within the Village limits, remains a favorite spot. (In early 1900's, Andover Pond was a resort area, surrounded by summer cabins.) The country is one of the richest in the state for hunting, with deer and wild turkeys predominating. |
An hour's drive to New York's famed Finger Lakes region makes serious boating, water sports and fishing a reality. This area is also renown for its first-class varietal wines.
